Let's take a federal law which states that everyone should have some weight, be healthy and have all the money they need to live comfortably. Sounds Orwellian, but solve many social issues. Can you say, do not be so sure.

The industry restoration, already in a recession of the escalating costs of food and Diners fewer fights local legislation on two fronts with more to follow.

In San Francisco, a new ordinance was passed which states that employers must pay a fee per employee hour in a fund health care. Although there are formulas and eligibility requirements, the amount is approximately $ 1.04 per hour. This is in addition to a previous order was passed requiring employers to pay a minimum hourly wage of nearly $ 10 per hour, including employees at the end!

In New York, one of recent ordinance requires restaurants with more units to post the calories in each menu item. While on the surface it may seem cumbersome, but doable, look a little closer. What if the consumer decides to upsize their meals? If you advertise, you must ext. And if one chooses a dinner meal # 2 with Coca-Cola and other singles dinner meal # 2 with an iced tea? This is a significant difference calories.

Restaurants attempting to comply have been almost impossible to meet the letter of the law. Fines begin to be perceived compensation menu "items" that combine several elements mentioned above with their calories, but not total, for a meal "as an element menu. Clearly, the restaurant industry has taken legal action to try to stop the local application.

Ultimately, who pays costs for all these laws, ordinances and the cost to administer? The consumer. However, the consumer does not see the actual costs up What restaurants have been forced to absorb much of the cost until they can fold the cost in the menu price. Of New menus are expensive to produce and almost always after the additional expense was paid and absorbed.

Eventually, all travel costs to the consumer. As citizens of San Francisco are discovered, the costs Restaurants have caused the failure, tourists complaining and eating out is more expensive there than other cities. The order of good intentions havoc on tourism, tax revenues, jobs and previously notable Bay Area food fame.

In my mind there is a bigger problem here. Far can we make the rules in our daily lives? Schools should be punished for not teaching people a Big Mac has far more calories that a small salad? How many languages of the restaurant industry have to post these notices in? Maybe we should fine restaurants that serve more than 800 calories in one person? Better yet, we will fine anyone who eats more than 2600 calories per day.

For orders of health care We will also fine people who do not go to the doctor when they could be sick. Or people who choose the tax not included in the scheme Health Care. Ah yes, maybe we should fine people who choose to spend their new government has provided increased earnings on vacations, fancy clothes and $ 500 cell phones instead of enrolling in programs of health care.

The real question is one of personal choice. Slowly, it seems that we are allowing government to intervene in our daily lives and the choices we make. Besides the cost to the wrong choice can be passed on equally by everyone, it seems a little small piece of freedom is decreasing with each attempt to make us "better."

Personal responsibility for our bad choices also disappears. Those who do good things and make the right choice to pay for the minority who do not. Is this what our forefathers intended?

Ooops … time to get off the soap box …. I just spilled hot coffee I ordered. Need to sue someone!

Nudist beaches / Nu in the Caribbean?

Good morning. My husband and I are looking for some advice. We try to take a vacation in the late winter / early spring through the Caribbean. And we would like to be a little adventurous in what we think we would like try a nude beach or even naked. We are pretty tame by most standards, so we do not want anything too crazy (think Hedonism). We would also to be around as couples (we are in our late 30 early 20, a couple of kids at home) – not that we necessarily want to socialize, but I think we would be more comfortable with the people in our population. I can not really see us spend the holidays together in the nude – I just love the side adventurous to go topless and even bottomless, and I think it would be quite funny if my husband could do the same. Any recommendations you have? We are also allowed to go to a good beach (That is, it does not have to be right outside the hotel / Resort, although it would be nice, too). Thank you!

You can go to Orient Beach in St. Martin or Sorobon Beach Resort Bonaire. Orient Beach is clothing Optional and Sorobon Beach Resort is a nudist. Neither is wild, like the stations of hedonism. My girlfriend and I went to the station Sorobon last June and it was very quiet and peaceful. It's on Bay Lake, a shallow bay where you can lift hundreds of meters and still be able to stand on the bottom with your head above water. It is very quiet and good for kayaking, diving, windsurfing. There are also a couple of stations in nude the Cancun area, but could be a little wild to taste. [Edit] By the way, you do not necessarily stay in Sorobon. You can get a day pass that allows you to enjoy the beach and facilities. They also rent snorkeling. We stayed at Happy Holiday Homes (Funny name, but pleasant and reasonably priced) and got a pass the day.
